    Nuclear fusion.
    Since the sun converts hydrogen to helium (through nuclear fusion), the composition changes over time.

    Nuclear fusion of Hydrogen into Helium. During the Sun’s lifespan of 10 billion years it will only nurn 10% of its Hydrogen. At that point the gravity will not be enough to hold the Sun together and it will then expand into a Red Giant.
