Everyone who played Sun City deserves a pat on the back, fuck all you stupid liberal twats. Let little Steven go to SA, see the paradise.

the other comment you made was removed by the author, what did you write?

  3. tadgerno1 says:

queen hide behind the multi ethnic artists you just mentioned?never, queen never hid behind anyone, the other artists hid behind them.

queen played sun city in the name of music, nothing to do with supporting apartheid.

unlike bono who writes sbs and claims it’s not a rebel or a protest song, then 10 years later admits it was,it didn’t stop him playing in mainland britain did it?nor did it stop him accepting a knighthood from the same country.

  4. Sean2001 says:

Don’t think I want to look like a hero !
And even if Queen hides behind Dionne Warwick, the O’Kays, Mr Manilow, Frank, Boney M and the rest we can still see them.
While it is important to remember the mistakes of the past it is even more important that Brian May’s views about Apartheid have changed – good luck to him and Queen for te future

  5. tadgerno1 says:

i know it’s been a year since you made your comment, but i will list a number of multi race artists that played there.

    Dionne warwick,the o’jays,manilow,sinatra,boney m,george benson,cher,ray charles,julio.

For some reason queens good name gets brought up and dragged through the mud by every arsehole that wants to look like a hero.

Yeah Queen took a lot of heat for playing Sun City & then playing Live Aid a year later it seemed rather hypocritical of them. Rod Stewart also played Sun City I think.

  12. greymilton says:

Really? Is this true? I did not know this. Hmmmm.

  13. Sean2001 says:

And who did play Sun City in 1984 – Queen now pretending they were anti-apartheid.
They decided to support South Africa rather that the United Nations cultural boycott.
Queen played a run of shows at Sun City, the entertainment complex located in Bophutswana, one of 10 South African Bantustans: tracts of low-quality land supposedly enshrined as independent black homelands that were in fact one of the struts of the apartheid regime.
